LOCAL SEA CADETS SET SAIL FOR ADVENTURE

Petty Officer Second Class Catherine Roskammerwill be travelling to HMCS Quadra in Comox British Columbia this summer to participate in a 6 week-long Boatswain’s Mate Course. Her brother, Chief Petty Officer First Class Benjamin Roskammer, will travel to HMCS Ontario located on the campus of The Royal Military College in Kingston Ontario on an 8 week-long Staff Cadet Appointment assisting Officer Staff.

The Roskammers, residents of Norland, are both active and energetic members of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Hood located in Fenelon Falls, participating in local training actives as well as weekend sailing in Orillia.

RCSCC Hood meets Tuesdays from 6 to 9pm at the Fenelon Falls Legion in Fenelon Falls. There are no fees attached to the program as the program is funded by the Department of National Defence in partnership with the Navy League of Canada and is open to youths aged 12 to 19. Local activities run September to June and Summer Cadet Training Camps run July to August.
