pre-fish, they add, so the local economy gets an even bigger boost. Plus, it leads to more people coming back to the Kawarthas in the weeks and months to come, once they’ve had that “Bobcaygeon Experience.”
Preparations are well underway for this year’s event, which will take place May 27-29 on Sturgeon Lake, starting from Bobcaygeon. With spaces for five new teams, there is room for 140 teams to compete in total. Competitors are coming from all over Ontario, and organizers hope to attract additional teams from the United States (note the exchange rate on the dollar) to complete the field.
The slogan for the weekend event is Family, Fun, Fishing, and a dedicated core committee of 10 organizers, an army of over 60 volunteers, sponsoring businesses, and booth occupants for the Sporting Outdoor Show, are all essential in helping CUSWT grow to the major event it has become.
They’re all committed to sharing knowledge of the fisheries and fish habitat, and to introducing recreational fishing to young people and families. This tournament is a live-release only event, with a focus on overall fish health.
There are still some openings for financial and prize sponsorship, as well as booth spaces in the Sporting Outdoor Show.
